Whether a huge performance or a humble speech, artistical and entertainment spaces create deep emotional connections with the listeners through the transfer of information.
A big challenge, from an acoustic standpoint, is the level of clarity with which that information arrives to people. For example, it is not only frustrating, but also unacceptable, to attend the concert of your favourite pianist and not be able to differentiate the notes and dynamics that the instrument itself projects, because of the overwhelming amount of reverberation in the space. Similarly, it is not ideal to observe the performance from a corner where the frequency distribution is uneven, and excessive low frequencies are audible, causing annoyance and, commonly, a sense of unbalance too.
